Museum Stage Two – Coach House Upgrades and Landscaping

Project Summary

In 2021 Cobar Shire Council completed stage one of the restoration works to the Great Cobar Museum to preserve the historical building and bring it back to its former glory. In addition to those works new exhibitions were also installed.

Cobar Shire Council have now received funding to continue to stage two upgrades of the Great Cobar Museum. This project will include replacing the existing Coach House as the exhibitions have outgrown the current Coach House space and unfortunately beyond the age of repair. The new Coach House will have exhibitions and storage space. The landscaping will also be included in stage two which will connect the inside exhibition journey through to the new Coach House exhibition space.

Stage two of the Great Cobar Museum will enhance the visitor experience.

Project Purpose

  • Demolition of old coach house and construction of a new building that will include exhibition space and storage space for collection items.
  • Landscaping that will form part of the exhibition journey including plantings, paths and edging.
