Museum Stage 1 Upgrades

Stage 1 upgrades to the Great Cobar Museum were jointly funded by Cobar Shire Council, the NSW Government Regional Cultural Fund Round 2 and Far Northwest Joint Organisation. This project consisted of restoration works to bring the historical building back to its former glory and preserve it for the future. In addition to the restoration works new exhibitions were installed to enhance the visiting experience.

The Great Cobar Museum wins 3 awards at the National Trust Heritage Awards 2022.

The Great Cobar Museum and Dunn and Hillam Architects have recently been awarded with the top prize along with 2 other major awards at the National Trust (NSW) Heritage Awards 2022. The National Trust Heritage Awards is an annual celebration of outstanding practice in the field of heritage, awarding excellence in conversation, protection, and interpretation of aboriginal, built, natural and cultural heritage over the past year.

The Great Cobar Museum and Dunn and Hillam Architects took out the judge’s choice award following the completion of stage 1 project renewing and restoring the old heritage building. The Great Cobar Museum also won the conservation – build heritage award and a highly commended in conversation – interior and objects category.
